You can add almost any file types to the virtual desktop for users to access. The most convenient method is to go to the normal Windows desktop and make a shortcut of the target file/program (right click target file -> Create Shortcut). Then go to System Guard and then the Desktop Setup and add that short cut you just created to the Virtual Desktop. You can even add a directory as a shortcut onto the virtual desktop. Essentially, anything you can create a shortcut from can be added onto the Virtual Desktop - provided that you have the appropriate programs installed to open them.

Troubleshooting
I have added the shortcuts for MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) onto the Virtual Desktop, but they just won't run.
This is because the Office shortcuts in the Start Menu are not links to the actual Office program executables. The executable files are stored at “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\” or subfolders with a similar name. You have to create shortcuts from those executable files to make a valid link. Please take the same precautions on other similar Microsoft Products (for example MSN Messenger) since they might not use standard interface to the operating system.
We are using i8 System Guard together with i8 System Guard Controller, yet the status on each Guard computer is either unknown or idle and they cannot be controlled.
1. Check network connections to see if they are active on both the System Guard Controller computer and all the System Guard computers. See whether they can access the Internet or shared folder.
2. Ensure ipx protocol or TCP/IP protocol are installed on all the computers. Make sure all the computers are in the same workgroup.
3. Make sure the port number in all the computers are the same and no other third party programs is occupying this port.
4. Make sure the IP address for i8 System Guard Controller is correctly filled under Mode -> Central Control Mode ->Advanced.
5. Make sure that the refresh time interval (within Mode ->Central Control Mode Options - send status message every ## seconds) in every System Guard computer is LESS than the refresh time interval in the System Guard Controller.
6. Restart all the System Guard computers to re-initiate the connection.
